Recognizing the important role that cities will play in the transition to a low-carbon economy, Coachella hired R+A to prepare a Climate Action Plan (in conjunction with a General Plan Update) as a roadmap for achieving community-wide greenhouse gas emissions reductions. Coachella’s CAP is a proactive step toward addressing the climate challenge to protect our children and grandchildren before climate change becomes irreversible. The CAP builds on the General Plan Update, quantifying emissions from the buildout of the proposed plan and includes additional policies and implementation actions to help Coachella further reduce emissions. It also includes strategies to protect public health and make the community more resilient to climate change.
