Description

The Willowbrook Transit Oriented District (TOD) Specific Plan area is located in the unincorporated community of Willowbrook within Los Angeles County, approximately ten miles south of downtown Los Angeles. It is located along the I-105 freeway and at the junction of the Metro Blue and Green Lines. Around the Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station, the Specific Plan generally contains the southern portion of the area within a half mile radius of the station. Some of the key facilities that are located within the Specific Plan area are Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Kenneth Hahn Plaza, Willowbrook Library, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Public Health.

While at another consulting firm, Ms. Malhotra led a multi-disciplinary team to work with County staff, local residents, and community leaders and prepare the Willowbrook TOD Specific Plan. The Specific Plan builds upon the various institutional anchors and capitalizes on Metro’s planned major improvements at the station. The Specific Plan will revitalize the community, foster a healthy community in the area, and improve access to all modes of transportation, including transit, walking and bicycling.
