South San Francisco Commission on Racial and Social Equity Report and Action Plan

South San Francisco, CA

Description

Raimi + Associates worked closely with City staff to facilitate and oversee the South San Francisco Commission on Racial and Social Equity (2020-2021). We worked closely with City staff to define key terms, identify group agreements and guiding principles to guide the Commissioner’s work. We also planned and facilitated each Commission meeting to identify goals and strategies that will reduce racial and other social inequities in South San Francisco in the areas of health, education, policing, housing, economic development, and social services. The project involved designing agendas and materials (including identifying and presenting local data on racial inequities and identifying example approaches for the Commission to consider and give feedback on), as well as facilitating 12 virtual Commission meetings (of 40-120 participants). The meetings were engaging and involved large and small group break out Zoom features and data visualization techniques to present key data. Based on a review of data and community input, the Commission developed a mission and vision, and identified goals and strategies to promote racial and social equity in South San Francisco. Our team produced a comprehensive South San Francisco Commission on Racial and Social Equity Report as well as an action plan that outlined a roadmap for implementation during the first year. All strategies have corresponding actions, leads, timeframe, and outcomes to track effectiveness and ensure accountability.
