AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND SUSTAINABLE
COMMUNITIES GHG TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Statewide, CA
Description
Since 2018 Raimi + Associates (R+A) has been providing technical assistance (TA) to applicants seeking to strengthen their greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction quantification and scores for applications to the Strategic Growth Council's Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program. R+A has worked with over 35 applicants from diverse communities across California. TA is provided to help applicants understand how to reduce emissions and improve scores through green building, renewable energy, active transportation and transit improvements, climate adaptation features, and how to communicate goals and scope of GHG reduction to their partner transportation agencies and other project supporters. Our approach to technical assistance in the AHSC Program has included facilitation of conversations between applicants and partner agencies or political representatives, building capacity to continue working in partnership.
As our expertise has deepened, R+A has scaled up the number of applicants served directly and developed public facing materials and webinars to aid a wider applicant pool. Since 2018 R+A has assisted 30 winning projects across the state, helping to secure over $824 million to build 3,473 affordable housing units.
