Calistoga Community Schools Initiative (CCSI)
Calistoga, CA

Description
Community Schools Initiative (CCSI) is a collaborative partnership between 38 organizations and agencies led by UpValley Family Centers, the Calistoga Joint Unified School District (CJUSD), and the City of Calistoga. The partnership coordinates programming and resources for children and youth related to four focus areas: Early Learning, Mental Wellness, Family and Student Engagement, and Healthy Bodies. The majority of students who participate in CCSI programs identify as Latinx and are more likely than their peers to be classified as an English Language Learner or to have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). In 2016, R+A created an evaluation framework and since then has analyzed initiative data and prepare d annual evaluation reports. Since 2018 the evaluation has utilized de-identified data on all CJUSD students in each school year, allowing for comparison of the demographics, attendance records, disciplinary incidents, and academic achievement of students who participate in specific CCSI programs and those who do not. The R+A team analyzes a range of process and outcome evaluation data from participating community partners. The annual evaluation report slide deck presents findings related to each focus area. In 2025, we prepared a 10-year evaluation highlights document.
