In 2022, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors motioned to create a County of Monterey Health System. In 2023, R+A began designing Natividad’s strategic planning process in close collaboration with executive leadership. As the county hospital, Natividad in partnership with the County of Monterey Public Health provides a range of healthcare services and programs to everyone in the county, despite ability to pay, immigration status, or language spoken.

For Natividad’s strategic planning process, the R+A team conducted an extensive environmental scan assessment process and planned and facilitated 10 strategic planning meetings. The strategic planning meetings included meetings with Natividad’s strategic planning team, managers at Natividad, Service Chiefs (i.e., doctors) at Natividad, Natividad’s managers, and the Health System Executive Team (which includes members from the County of Monterey Health Department and Natividad Executive team). The final strategic plan is highly stylized and includes an introduction, the County of Monterey Health System visual overview, highlights of Natividad’s range of services, Natividad’s five goals, and corresponding strategies. We have also identified measures of success for all goals and implementation activities for all strategies. The Strategic Plan was adopted by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in December of 2024. R+A is now leading the development of the year-one implementation plan, including creating a data dashboard to assist the Natividad executive team in tracking progress.
